Free Public Carving Day!
Saturday, August 17 from 12-4pm at Studio 122 at Lowe Mill ARTS and Entertainment
This free, all-ages mini-workshop is open to the public!
Drop in anytime between 12-4pm and learn to carve and print your own small blocks: 4x5” linoleum relief blocks for older learners, and styrofoam for the little ones. Tools and equipment will be supplied. You may draw your own image, or carve one of our pre-drawn blocks—no experience necessary!
As part of our upcoming art exhibit celebrating Alabama’s biodiversity, we invite the community to contribute prints or carved blocks from this event, which will be incorporated into a final large-scale piece.
Inspired by the peak season for local butterflies, which surrounds this week in August, we will be inviting visitors to carve and print actual-size living creatures of Alabama suitable for the 4x5” format, including butterflies, toads, frogs, small birds, cluster of bees or crickets, chipmunks, spiders, turtles, crawfish, etc.
We hope to see you there!
Note: You do not need to register for this event! Just drop in!
